Highways Development Management

Salary: £22,401 - £25,463 per annum

37 hours per week - permanent

Three Technicians are required to support our Highways Development and Improvements team in providing advice for all types of planning applications. This is a key role in the Council’s client side, helping to influence strategy, policy and deliver the Council’s outcomes.

Take this role within our Development and Improvements team, and you will use your skills to advise on the transportation and highways effects of planning applications.

The Role:

Prepare and issue comments, advice and recommendations relating to highway/transportation aspects of planning applications; having regard to current design/transportation guidelines.

Undertake necessary liaison on matters relating to legal Agreements, Briefs, Statutory Undertakers, sub-consultants and other internal and external bodies to ensure the satisfactory progression of all related activities.

Prepare evidence in connection with appeals and Court proceedings under the Town and Country Planning Acts.

Audit Transport Assessments and Travel Plans, as may be allocated in the light of the experience, training and knowledge of the post holder.

Maintain good relations with, and respond as necessary to, queries from Members, internal and external stakeholders in respect of allocated projects.

Participate in public consultation and liaison activities and attend meetings as directed (occasionally outside normal office hours) and utilise customer insight to direct, develop and deliver highway services under the post holder’s control.

Undertake the preparation, auditing, monitoring and annual review of Travel Plans in light of current guidelines, and issue comments, advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

Your personal style and approach should be positive, proactive and engaging to people at all levels. You will have exceptional stakeholder management skills and the ability to quickly build credible relationships within Infrastructure+ and with our key stakeholders the local planning authorities.
