Ranger Warden, Northfield Hub
Birmingham Ranger Service is responsible for maintaining and promoting conservation across Birmingham's parks, open spaces and Nature reserves. We work closely with and within our local communities to enhance residents and visitors enjoyment of our nature and Birmingham's public open spaces.
Birmingham Parks Service is looking to recruit a suitably qualified, experienced, and dynamic individual to complement and complete the existing Ranger Service management team.
The post holder will have responsibility for helping to supervise and assist in the maintenance of the hub sites, ensuring compliance with the park Byelaws, carrying out periodical health and safety checks and to oversee facilities where directed. In addition the post will support the site Rangers in all associated duties, which may include community involvement with friends of groups and helping organise activities on site.
The post will support the day to day management, work and promotion of the Ranger Hub, based at a Country Park, as part of the city wide Ranger Service. As such you will have a proven interest in conservation and wildlife and helping to create welcoming and safe environments. The role will also help to support the hubs link between the Service and external partners including Birmingham Open Spaces Forum and Park Friends Groups
Must have a full driving licence.
To cover the Hub rota in conjunction with the wider team. There will be a requirement on occasions for out of hours working. This is also likely to include attendance at various events on parks.
Ranger Service staff currently work 2 out of 3 weekends on a rota. This requirement is fully covered in the rate of pay above.
Ranger Service staff also work 8 out of 12 Bank Holiday days for which additional payment is claimed.
Ranger Service Hours are annualised to 36.5 hrs per week working pattern split is; 9.30am – 4.30pm winter (25 weeks) 9.30am – 18.00pm summer (27 weeks).
Basic organisational and administrative skills using both manual and computer based systems.
