Birmingham Ranger Service is responsible for maintaining and promoting conservation across Birmingham's parks, open spaces and Nature reserves. We work closely with and within our local communities to enhance residents and visitors enjoyment of our nature and Birmingham's public open spaces.
Birmingham Parks Service is looking to recruit a suitably qualified, experienced, and dynamic individual to complement and complete the existing Ranger Service management team. The post holder will have overall responsibility for the day to day management and promotion of Northfield Ranger Hub, based at Lickey Hills Country Park, as part of the city wide Ranger Service. As such you will have a proven background in managing a diverse team of staff involved in nature conservation and land management. In addition you will also have a proven background in providing events and educational activities to the public, educational establishments and community groups.
You will be experienced in performance management and setting multiple team targets and reporting on outcomes.
You will have excellent IT skills and be able to communicate well at all levels. The role will also be a key link between the Service, external partners, Birmingham Open Spaces Forum and Park Friends Groups. The post holder will be instrumental in further developing volunteering opportunities across the Hub. Special Conditions: There will be a requirement on occasions for out of hours attendance at meetings eg Ward Committees, Friends Groups and other user groups. This is also likely to include attendance at various events on parks.
Ranger Service staff currently work 2 out of 3 weekends on a rota. This requirement is fully covered in the rate of pay indicated.
Ranger Service staff also work 8 out of 12 Bank Holiday days for which additional payment is claimed.
Ranger Service Hours are annualised to 36.5 hrs per week working pattern split is; 9.30am – 4.30pm winter (25 weeks) 9.30am – 18.00pm summer (27 weeks)
