Job Details

The County Record Office looks after Warwickshire's historic archives with documents dating back to the 12th century.

Our busy public service welcomes nearly 4000 visitors per year, helping family and local historians with their research.

This post is part of a team that is a joint project between Warwickshire and Derbyshire Record Offices to catalogue, repackage, promote and improve access to their coal mining records.

This role will be one of two project assistants working with the project archivist located in Warwick.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and an energetic person with an interest in history who enjoys engaging with people.

You will be required to digitise, conserve and promote the collection through social media; some basic training will be provided.

You must have stamina and will have a level of physical fitness to enable you lift and carry documents on a daily basis from the strong rooms around the weight of 10 kg.

You will also need to fulfil all the essential criteria on the Person Specification.

This position provides practical experience of a record office environment that would suit a candidate wishing to pursue a career in archives or conservation.
