Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils are proactive successful local planning authorities that have joined their Planning Services into a shared service. The authorities strive to provide a high level of resident satisfaction and customer service.
We pride ourselves on being a progressive organisation who spends time and energy on what we know matters to our residents and communities – things like creating jobs, keeping the streets clean, helping people feel safe, preventing homelessness and dealing with planning applications speedily and effectively.

Our staff are at the heart of what we do, and as a result we are always looking to recruit, develop and retain the very best talent we can find.  That's why, as well as a satisfying job, we offer a range of attractive benefits, such as flexible working arrangements, generous holiday entitlements, a pension scheme, plenty of opportunities for personal development, and discounted gym membership.

We share a Chief Executive/Managing Director and a joint management team with Malvern Hills District Council.

Each council retains their own political structures and distinct identities and the joint management structure allows us to maximise the opportunity to deliver a wide range of good value services to our customers and communities, and operate and develop shared services and partnership arrangements with each other and with other councils.

Salary Range £19,945 - £21,589 pro rata to hours worked

The Planning Support Team provides all the administrative support primarily to the Development Management function of Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils. The role is based at Wychavon, however as the team forms part of a shared service, the successful candidate would need to work from our Malvern office for up to 3 days per week dependant on the needs of the service.

Do you like a challenge and enjoy working within a busy and varied role? We are looking for a motivated individual who is able to work under pressure and juggle a varied workload. This includes the validation and processing of planning and tree works applications, the registration of permitted development and pre-application advice enquiries, administrative support for Planning Committee and Appeals and dealing with planning enquiries from the general public.

We are looking for people with administrative experience in a multi-disciplined unit, delivering a wide range of administrative duties. Attention to detail and an ability to manage time effectively as well as a flexible approach to work is essential for the role

Ideally, the successful applicant will already have experience of working within a busy office environment and be able to organise a large workload whilst providing support to other team members. It is desirable that the candidate will have experience of processing planning applications but this is not essential as training will be given.

Excellent interpersonal skills and customer care skills are also essential.
