Worcester

Worcester is a great place to work. We have a thriving city centre, a great wealth of history and a fantastic environment, making it somewhere to be proud of.

Everyone associated with Worcester City Council is proud of Worcester’s offer of a high quality of life, varied heritage, award winning parks and our contribution to the development of modern local government.

It is a fantastic place to work and you will find us to be an organisation that is challenging yet caring; with our leadership adventurous in its pursuit of excellence.

At Worcester City Council, we have a work-family culture and we are proud to support and value the combination of employees’ work and family lives.

We have a clear vision to achieve excellence in everything we do and to achieve excellence in everyone we employee, meaning we are looking for an excellent candidate to come and join our work family!

A Facilities Assistant is required to carry out duties at two City Council buildings, The Guildhall and The Museum and Art Gallery. The Guildhall has become a popular venue for holding Weddings, Parties, Conferences and events organised by external organisations . As such, the ideal candidate must make the customer service experience excellent for all visitors and hirers, both internally and externally. You must have a keen eye for detail and have experience of ensuring events run smoothly and efficiently.  We therefore, need someone with a natural talent for building relationships, someone who can take a proactive approach to work and be able to work on their own initiative and someone who is more than comfortable using social media, Microsoft packages and related systems.

The post holder will be working on a shift basis throughout the week, Monday to Saturday and would be expected to work flexibly, changing their working pattern to meet customer and service demand. There may be occasional Sunday working.

Some key duties include assisting with security arrangements, the locking and unlocking of Council buildings and unsetting and setting alarms. You would be expected to encourage and take room bookings by providing exemplary customer service, ensure rooms are set up as requested to meet the needs of the customers on the day, provide any refreshments required and be on hand for any equipment issues. It is also expected you would perform office administration duties such as raising purchase orders, maintaining and ordering stationery stock, reporting building maintenance issues, signing contractors in and out and ensuring Health and Safety standards are adhered to. A knowledge of operating a bar serving alcohol would also be an advantage.  There will also be a requirement to assist the Civic Office and attend Civic Functions as necessary.

This is a temporary post for 12 months.

For an informal discussion, please contact Ben Schiffmann on 01905 722018.

Closing Date: 25 August 2019
