MDT TEAM MANAGER - LOCAL AREA COORDINATOR (LAC)

As part of the Customer Journey, Birmingham is delighted to provide an exciting opportunity for staff across Birmingham City Council.  The post will be to manage a small team, one placed per constituency and to have oversight and drive the mapping and connections between community assets and citizens.  The TM LAC role is a key element of transforming practice, supported by the rollout of 3 conversations model.  

The rollout of 3 conversations programme within constituencies, and the need to embed a prevention driven strategy for reducing packages of care, delivering savings benefit of £30m over the next 3 years, The TM – LAC (Local Area Coordination) is a key driver to support this change, and work collaboratively with the TM 3 Conversation Champion to bring about this change.   LAC, part of the Birmingham social work framework is a key component of BCC promise to: ’Birmingham Taking the Initiative: changing the nature of how we do things.

Key focus of TM – LAC role:

Co-production within communities to build resilience within local communities through development of networks and innovative local solutions, to reduce the impact of funded packages of care and the need for formal services.  (Prevention and demand reduction strategy).   
Already dependent on services to build personal connections, use of community assets, reducing reliance on formal services (reduction service dependency) and reduce the need for service (capacity building)
Support citizens may they be known/not known to build their own, family and community resilience
The successful candidate will be required to support the fundamental ‘Prevention Savings’ target of £30m reduction of care packages over the next 3 years by working collaboratively with the TM 3 Conversations champion.  Your role will be to establish investment in attracting funding from other sources such as health, police, fire services, universities, local businesses to support the prevention savings programme by reducing the dependency of citizens for funded services.
