Sports Centre Duty Officer/Caretaker

Grade 4 – (£17,391 - £18,319 Pay Award Pending)

Permanent/Part-time/Whole Year – Required as soon as possible from September 2019

An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Sports Centre Duty Officer/Caretaker for the Sports Centre

building at the school. We are ideally looking for someone interested in working flexibly for

approximately 20-25 hours per week. Please see sample of rota hours.

We are looking an enthusiastic, reliable and self-motivated individual who will be responsible for

providing on-site support at the sports centre. We need to cover a 5-day working week between 2 people from approximately 4:30pm -10:15pm Monday to Friday throughout the year. On occasion, you would be required to work Saturdays to cover holidays or absence from 9:45am – 4:45pm.

You will be the main point of contact for our hirers and you will provide supervision and security for the

community use of the school. Duties to include: opening and locking of the buildings for community

activities as directed, which are in the evenings; provide on-site security; help with the setting up and

clearing away of equipment; ensure that correct procedures are adopted in the event of an emergency; general maintenance, undertaking any site cleaning and housekeeping duties of the building. There may also be occasions when you would be assisting with work across other school buildings. In addition, you may be called upon to support the school with supervision at Parents evenings or locking up after lets.

The salary scale is the Local Authority's Grade 4, £17,391 - £18,319 per annum (£9.01 - £9.50 per hour) and would be pro rata to the number of hours worked.

King Edward VI School is a popular 11-18 comprehensive school rated Good by OfSTED in 2017 with

recognition of outstanding practice and high expectations. The school is well-regarded within the area

and we hope to carry on supporting the local community by continuing to have sports lettings on site.
