INDEPENDENT CHAIR FOR FOSTERING AND PERMANENCE PANEL

Rate per Panel - £350.00 plus expenses

As Panel Chair you will be required to take responsibility for chairing panel meetings, ensuring that all items of business are covered and that the panel operates in accordance with Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards.

Dudley Fostering Service is looking to appoint an Independent Panel Chair for our Fostering and Permanence Panel.

Panels take place twice per month, on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays – 24 panels per year.

The rate per panel includes preparation reading for panel, chairing of panel and subsequent approval of minutes. The expected duration of each panel is 6 hours but some may be shorter and occasionally some may be longer.

The post holder will be required to Chair Disruption Placement meetings as and when required. The rate applied for this will be £45.00 per hour

Regular training is provided and access to our Centre for Professional Practice training programme.

The post requires an Enhanced DBS check.

We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic, dynamic and committed to ensuring that Foster Carers are recruited and retained who are competent to meet the needs of vulnerable children.

The expectation is that you will provide leadership to panel by being well prepared, carefully identifying key issues and alerting the Panel Advisor to any concerns.

We are seeking to appoint a competent and accomplished professional with the ability to ensure that the panel functions within a clear anti-discriminatory framework. You will need to be able to demonstrate expertise in childcare planning and child development with a detailed and up to date knowledge of the legislative framework for Fostering and a comprehensive understanding of the national standards and current good practice initiatives.

The suitable candidate must have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and be able to put prospective and approved foster carers at ease whilst promoting sound and responsible decision-making.
