Senior HR Advisor (Policy, Pay & Reward) - Ref: RT68319

Are you a strong HR practitioner who is able to work at a strategic level? Can you demonstrate the ability to identify, develop and manage strategic HR projects? Can you demonstrate substantial advisory and policy development experience across a variety of HR disciplines? Can you work strategically with the business, having experience of analysing and presenting workforce management information to support action plans? If so, then Walsall Council may have the opportunity that you have been looking for.

We are seeking an experienced HR Practitioner, who has a desire to lead improvements in our HR service through innovative and best practice policy development, ensuring systems and processes are in place to support service improvements and that the Council are compliant with current and emerging employment legislation.

This strategic role will involve the provision of specialist advice and guidance to HR colleagues and wider stakeholders, best practice research and benchmarking to develop innovative HR policies and procedures, implementation and communication of HR systems, processes and procedural developments. The role will also include responsibility for contributing to the Council’s pay and rewards strategy including conducting job evaluations and advising appeals panels.

The ideal candidate will:-

  • Have a thorough understanding of employment legislation and the ability to interpret and communicate developments
  • Be CIPD qualified and have experience of providing HR specialist advice and developing employment policies
  • Have experience of working strategically with the business including collating, analysing and interpreting workforce data and supporting the business with outcome focused action plans
  • Have experience of working with in a large complex and unionised environment

This role is fixed term for 9 months and is to cover an existing employee’s period of absence.
