Head of People & Organisational Development
Are you the sort of person who wants to make a change?
Do you want to change your situation and other people’s lives as well? You may have noticed private and public sector companies changing how they operate and embodying a culture of continuous improvement. Newcastle Under Lyme Council is one of those organisations.
With a new CEO at the helm and fresh members of the senior team in place, they are determined to change how the council works. The council covers a range of public services and acknowledges they are stronger in some areas than others. Their goal is to deliver the highest, possible standard of services across all departments. This is where you come in. They need someone like you to lead changes through the HR and OD services. Devising and implementing your strategy for the council’s functions, liaising with the executive and departmental heads to create medium and long-term solutions.
You can make your mark on the council’s services for many years to come.
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll use your confident communication skills to develop excellent working relationships with trade unions and local managers.
You’ll be comfortable with writing and implementing new policies, in line with legal changes, as well as training managers on how to deliver a slick and effective HR service to their reports.
Your experience in Learning and Development will be put to good use as you’ll manage the Annual L&D plan, compiling information gathered from the council plan, strategic plans, individual appraisals and action plans.
You’ll manage the budget, explore external funding sources and use cost-benefit analysis on the L&D plan to make sure that value is delivered.
