Vacancy for:

  • SEND Senior Casework Officer – Scale SO2 £28,034 - £29,675

Following a restructure that will enable the SEND Service to enhance and improve its service to parents and carers, and to schools and settings, we have a vacancy for the position listed above.

The Service carries out the Local Authority's statutory responsibilities to:

  • Manage the statutory SEND system for EHC assessment
  • Preparing and issuing EHC Plans
  • Determining educational placement and support, and
  • Monitoring arrangements and provision for individual children and young people with EHC Plans

It sounds simple and straightforward, and often is, but not always. A typical day includes carrying out a set of predictable activities, as well as responding to enquiries from schools, settings, parents and other professionals, and sometimes dealing with the unexpected.

We are based in Worcester at the County Hall Campus. Service staff work from home on agreed days and in the office, or out in schools, on others.

This is an exciting time to join the Service. Our recent Local Area SEND Inspection has provided us with a platform for improvement. We have reshaped our service. We need to fill the additional vacancies we have. We expect to be a growing service and we know we are a priority for the Council.

Our work is important because what we do, and how we do it, directly affects parents and carers, children and young people, and the settings and schools that provide their education.

We are looking someone who:

  • understands the need to deliver a service in a way that is helpful and non-stressful for the people who receive it
  • works well as part of a team
  • has the right level of understanding and knowledge about children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities
  • has experience working in children's services
  • goes the extra mile in their work to ensure we deliver our duties in a way that is sensitive and supportive, as well as satisfying the rules we have to follow
  • can make a positive contribution to the ongoing improvement of our Service

We are interested in receiving applications for posts on a permanent basis. Should you feel that you would like to join us on secondment to see if the post is for you we will also consider this. If you apply for a secondment you must be sure that your current manager will release you.

The closing date is: 8th September 2019

Interview dates to be confirmed.
