If you feel that this appeals to you, an opportunity has arisen for a Principal Officer within the UTMC team.

In this role you will manage the day to day development and operation of Coventry’s traffic systems to ensure that traffic of all modes moves around the city safely and efficiently in support of the continued growth of the city.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for key areas including urban traffic control, Intelligent Transport Systems, traffic signal design/implementation and maintenance of the existing UTMC assets.

Key to this role will be having experience in the design and operation of traffic signals, ITS equipment and traffic control systems, the ability to develop innovative solutions, providing leadership to individuals and teams and working successfully with key partners and stakeholders to keep traffic moving within the city. A keen interest in the innovation agenda, CAVs, Internet of Things is desirable.

You will also need to be flexible and be able to undertake some weekend and /or evening work to provide UTMC cover when there are major events on in the city and we expect an increase in traffic volumes, such as Rugby and Football matches, pop concerts and events such as Motofest and half marathons. Overtime or time off in lieu is available for this work.

You will have plenty of opportunity to get involved in several projects as Coventry is embarking on an exciting period of growth and is getting prepared for City of Culture 2021.
