Assistant Communications Officer
Coventry City Council has been awarded external funding and will be managing the delivery of 3 Migration Team projects. You will work with the Programme Delivery Manager, Project Manager and the Communications Manager to develop and deliver an exciting “Communication Plan” for the wider Migration Team.
You will be working across the teams and their projects by co-ordinating the wider communications agenda and messages in line with guidance from the City Council. We are looking for a passionate and flexible person with very good written Communications and Social Media skills to communicate the good work of the project for wider audiences at the national and EU level.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting refugees and migrants with strong communication and marketing skills.
•Strong organisational skills, tact and diplomacy in all interpersonal relationships with the public and colleagues
•Demonstrates creativity and flexibility in all aspects of communications and able to use various Social media platforms
•Use own initiative when making decision to achieve goals that go above and beyond the minimum requirements of this role
•Self-confidence and the ability to deal with difficult situations as well as negotiate with partners
•Demonstrates good IT literacy with the ability to learn new software packages
•Event Management Skills and the ability to recommend innovative solutions to problems while also maximising the Council's communications objectives.
•Experience of targeting and reaching a wider audience through differing multi-media channels while also developing marketing and PR materials accordingly
•Experience of working with external suppliers e.g. design agencies and contract specific pieces of work

The team supports regional work around the dispersal of asylum seekers to the West Midlands and liaises with local providers and partners. The team is also part of and supports the Coventry Migration Network that represents voluntary sector partners focused on refugees and newly arrived communities.
