The Planning Applications Team is working hard to maintain high performance levels – last year we produced the best performance ever. As a result of a continued high volume of applications and an internal promotion we are looking to recruit a new permanent Assistant Planner post within the team. The position is based in the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon and whose district boundaries extend into the Cotswolds AONB and the West Midlands Green Belt.

You will deal with a caseload focussed on householder applications and other types of minor applications including, lawful development certificates, advertisements, agricultural notifications and prior approvals.

You will be expected to show enthusiasm, drive and a high level of personal organisational skills to manage a large volume of simpler applications. You will have contact with District Councillors, parish councils and members of the public.

You will ideally hold a post graduate qualification in planning or a related field or be about to graduate. Or alternatively you will have experience of working within a development management team.

For an informal discussion about the Assistant Planners role, please contact Helen Watson (Team Leader, Assistant Planners – Weds, Thurs & Friday am) on 01789 260325 or Abigail Chapman (Team Leader, Assistant Planners Mon, Tues & Weds am) on 01789 260332.

In addition to an open and friendly environment, you’ll enjoy an excellent benefits package including BUPA Cash Plan, a minimum of 23 days annual leave, flexi-time, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and town centre car parking.

An application form and job description can be accessed via the website, www.stratford.gov.uk, alternatively telephone the 24 hour answering service on (01789) 260711, or e-mail sitsvac@stratford-dc.gov.uk.  The minicom number for Elizabeth House is (01789) 260747.
