We are seeking an experienced, professional and well-motivated individual to undertake an exciting range of duties within the Strategic Housing Team. Working across Herefordshire your key objectives will be to identify empty properties and bring them back into use as affordable housing units and drive the development and delivery of affordable housing. The Council is also keen to engage commercial landlords on opportunities for converting empty space above shops in the City and Market Town centres to provide new homes. The role will support the discharge of the council’s statutory duties as a strategic housing authority through the application of current housing and planning legislation, housing policy and good practice, guiding multiple schemes and proposals through to completion.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience of working in housing development, strategy or planning, preferably within a local authority or registered provider, with an in depth knowledge and understanding of the problems associated with vacant properties. You will be an effective communicator, confident working alongside and negotiating with senior leaders, elected representatives and the public, private and voluntary sector.
