About us:

Provide a seamless support service to young people up to the age of 25 years transitioning into adulthood from Children's into Adult Services and continuing to experience exploitation and its effects.

Embed arrangements for transitioning young people in partnership with a range of adult agencies and others that are comprehensive and inclusive in their approach to tackling Exploitation and its consequences.

About the role:

The role of the Child Exploitation, Missing and Trafficking Team is to provide a service to children and young people who have experienced Exploitation, been missing or trafficked and/or have been assessed as being at risk of either medium or high risk of CE or trafficking.

Key requirements:

  • Undertake identified planned direct work with children,young people and young adults. This will usually be for a set period of time and will be regularly reviewed.
  • The CE Social Worker may also be required to complete work with the parents also, where appropriate.
  • Part of the role will be working in conjunction with the Police to support complex Operations/Investigations that Police may be conducting. Support Police by engaging with victims, where appropriate and support by completing key tasks.
  • To provide an outcome focused Social Work service in line with Health Care Professionals Council's (HCPC) Standards.
  • To work within legislative frameworks and the local authorities policies and procedures in providing a Social Work Service.
  • To take responsibility for planning and actively participating in supervision in order to ensure that Social Work Practice is underpinned byline manager accountability recognising the need for increase supervisions to manage highly complex cases.
  • Manage a varied caseload to support vulnerable children and young adults who meet the threshold for service including those who have complex and or challenging needs.
  • To undertake a wide range of complex assessment of need/risk and devise support plans to meet identified outcomes, working in partnership with children, young adults, agencies and other networks.
  • Identify, source and review the support and services provided to ensure this continues to meet eligible needs and identified outcomes.
  • To maintain and facilitate professional working relationships with partner agencies and others for the delivery of services.
  • Take a key worker role in responding to safeguarding vulnerable children and young adults with managerial oversight for strategy meetings conferences and review, where appropriate. 
  • To take responsibility for own professional development inline with the HCPC Standards. Identify learning and development needs through supervision and appraisal, including expectations of the WCC Social Work Career Pathway. 
  • To undertake more complex cases, which require the development of solutions over the long term.
  • Whilst dealing with the more complex cases regarding the most vulnerable Children, it is likely that there will be regular intense emotional demands.
