King Edward VI College, is a highly regarded sixth form college, located in Stourbridge town centre. Specialising in the delivery of high quality A levels, in over 30 subject areas providing students with a wide range of course opportunity.

This post will involve working on our established IT Services team on various projects across College.  The ideal candidate will be able to work flexibly. 

The post-holder will provide first and second line support and advice to staff and students on a wide range of IT matters. The role will require the post-holder to be able to troubleshoot hardware problems, software problems and network issues and support members of the College in using equipment. Types of hardware may include (but not limited to) printers, digital projectors, Smart Boards, computers, tablets and monitors. The post-holder will also take responsibility for managing systems related to the smooth running of College IT equipment, such as PC imaging, Antivirus and windows updates. They will also assist the IT Services department in supporting users of the college systems through a variety of administrative tasks and be required to work flexibly in promoting the best practice of the use of IT facilities at the college.Good organisation skills and a proactive attitude are a must for working in a constantly changing, fast paced environment.

The main responsibilities are:

IT service delivery

  1. Install, set up and maintain hardware as required through a variety of methods
  2. Take the lead role in providing an efficient and effective help-desk service for users of the college system by:
  3. Logging all support requests
  4. Providing first and second line support to staff and students, advising and resolving issues where possible
  5. Monitoring call trends and alerting IT staff as appropriate
  6. Ensuring all incidents are fully documented
  7. Maintain accurate records of equipment and any hardware or software loans made to staff Setup AV equipment as required for presentations

IT systems delivery

  1. Maintain the College network through a variety of tools including Active Directory, GPO and System Center
  2. Ensure all College equipment is fully patched with the latest updates, through a variety of different methods Ensure security software is installed and functional on all College PCs Ensure that all College IT Hardware is fully functional Ensure that College mobile devices are properly managed via appropriate systems

Policies and procedures

  1. Maintain support documentation
  2. Assist in keeping system documentation relevant and accurate Ensure College IT equipment is kept under review and, as far as possible, is used to its full advantage

 

 

Administrative and general duties

  1. Organise consumables stock levels
  2. Liaise with external agencies supporting the college’s IT systems as required Update forms and policies Manage the asset register of IT Services equipment Organise and manage the loaning of IT Services equipment Other administrative duties as directed by the IT Manager or the CIS Manager

Salary will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges Association support staff pay scale, grade 22-26 which is currently £18,780 - £21,451 per annum.

This post is anticipated to start in October 2019.  It is a Full time vacancy and is an all year round position.
