Develop your career in social work at City of Wolverhampton Council where an exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Worker within MASH has arisen!

This is a positive time to join us in the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). As an Ofsted ‘Good’ rated service, Wolverhampton continue to be committed to providing the best care and support to our children and families and our employees.

The Senior Social Worker post within MASH is an exciting opportunity to work alongside other agencies to share information and to use that information to consider harm to children and young people. The Senior Social Worker will work closely with the Early Help manager and the Senior Social Worker within MASH to triage the contact records and make robust decisions based on Wolverhampton Threshold Document.

The Senior Social Worker has a shared responsibility for the day to day oversight of the guardian system, ensuring that the relevant lateral checks are completed using the restorative practice ideas to analyse the information to outcome referrals. This includes chairing strategy meetings in a timely and robust manner bringing together all agencies.

There is supervision responsibility for the Duty Contact Workers in order to help and support their learning and role within MASH.

Another innovative part of the role is to visit agencies to discuss the functioning of MASH and how there is continual learning and improvements which can be made to improve the outcomes of children and young people.

We are a forward-thinking and transformational council working hard to improve outcomes for families, taking pride in our work we also offer our employees excellent training and fantastic avenues for progression, all with a highly competitive salary.

The post holder will:

• Work closely with the Team Manager to improve overall performance, drive quality interventions and contribute to strategic planning.

• Ensure the provision of a high quality and effective social work service to meet the needs of children and their families, safeguarding children in a timely manner within statutory guidelines.

• Represent the service within multi-agency forums and to contribute to the development of policy and practice in Children’s Services across the city.

• Visit other agencies to look at learning, improvements and the role and function of MASH

• Provide effective oversight within the service, taking responsibility, being accountable and motivating staff within the team.

• Act as a champion within the service for restorative practice.

If you are ambitious, driven, organised and passionate about work with children and families we want to hear from you.
