Sandwell Children's Safeguarding Partnership - 'Working together to keep children safe"

SCSP is a partnership of all the different organisations working to protect children and young people across the county.

We bring together information for children, young people and their families and the professionals who work with them.

Safeguarding children and young people is everyone’s responsibility.

The SCSP ensures that all organisations that work with children work together to keep children and young people safe from harm.

Safeguarding is about keeping children and young people safe from abuse or neglect.

All those who come into contact with children and families in their everyday work, have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

The SCSP undertakes this role through providing training, the development of policies and procedures and awareness raising

As a result of new legislative changes and after a review of its current offering, Sandwell Children's Safeguarding Partnership (SCSP) is looking to appoint a SCSP Business Manager.

Working with a host of stakeholders who’s key objective is to put the child at the centre of our journey, the SCSP are offering a unique and exciting opportunity for a smart, forward thinking, strategically minded Innovations and Business Manager to lead the Business Unit.

Do you feel you can provide professional support and advice to the Safeguarding Partners and relevant agencies of the Sandwell Children’s Safeguarding Partnership and its commissioned groups?

This is a truly fantastic opportunity for the right person, so, what are we looking for?

In your role you will have overall responsibility, providing high level management focus to the planning, development, delivery and monitoring of the priorities and objectives of the strategic partnership.

Working collaboratively must be a key strength, you will need to lead your team to ensure the fundamentals are met; such as meeting our statutory responsibilities, both in terms of our national and local requirements. But more is required, you’ll need to draw on your experiences and provide advice and guidance whilst demonstrating great credibility within your field of expertise and of course to be successful you will need to be able to quickly build rapport and confidence across the network of stakeholders to maintain and importantly improve successful joint working arrangements.

You will be able to balance managing a busy team partnership office, whilst also working closely with the independent scrutineer/chair to support the delivery of the strategic priorities which aim is to ensure that robust safeguarding arrangements are in place.

Are you a credible advisor to Safeguarding Partners, relevant partners and managers/practitioners from partner agencies and can you demonstrate an insight and appreciation of Children’s safeguarding practice from a range of their perspectives?

Can you deliver exceptional standards of service to the Partnership and CYP and their families?

To be able to demonstrate experience of leading in a complex partnership environment is a must. You will need to explain, using your professional knowledge and experience of safeguarding as well as your track record in operational management how you have supported on-going service improvements.

Have you built and maintained positive relationships through a period of negativity or deep change, can you negotiate and influence at a strategic level?

If so, we would love to hear from you.

Comprehensive understanding of:

- National policy, strategy and developments regarding children’s social care and areas that impact on children in need, subject to protection and looked after children.

- Social care performance data

- Learning from serious case reviews and local child safeguarding practice

- Relevant legislation, statutory guidance, standards and procedures.

- Relevant theoretical frameworks, practice models and research findings.

- Outcomes concepts, quality assurance methodology and change/project management techniques.

- Understanding of the statutory responsibilities of the multi-agency safeguarding arrangements (MASA)

- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of race, culture, gender, disability, age and religion on child protection issues.

- Demonstrating a high standard in producing reports and business cases with ability to present these verbally and in writing.

- Experience at working as Senior Officer, Directorate and Chief Officer Level with statutory responsibly for keeping children safe.

- Ability and experience of working across and influencing at all levels including with elected members and senior officers.

- Experienced in implementing organisational change, strategically or operationally, projects and programme's to achieve desired outcomes within a single or multi-agency context.

- Excellent analytical skills and ability to prepare reports on complex issues in formats suitable to a variety of audiences.

- Experience of working in local or central government or other major public-sector organisation which provides evidence of your ability to review the impact of the scope of the work.

- Ability to meet targets, work under pressure and to tight timelines.

-Experience in learning and improvement strategies and monitoring systems to assess the impact and effectiveness of multi-agency safeguarding practice.

- Experience of developing and implementing performance monitoring systems and providing analysis, challenge of partner agency performance data.

-Experience of receiving and interrogating data from a range of sources/agencies to produce information which is fit for purpose
