Teaching Assistant - Level 2 - Millbrook Primary
Millbrook Primary School is situated in Leegomery, Telford. The school originally consisted of separate junior and infant schools which opened in the late 1970s. In 2005, the schools amalgamated to form Millbrook Primary School and Nursery.
The school occupies an enviable green site which gives superb opportunities for outdoor education. There are currently thirteen classes from Reception to Y6 and an attached nursery.
Millbrook serves a very diverse community. Forty-five per cent of the pupils are entitled to Pupil Premium and pupil mobility is higher than the national average. The school’s intake is diverse with fifty-five per cent of pupils from ethnic minority backgrounds. Around Forty per cent of pupils speak English as an additional language. The main languages spoken are Urdu, Panjabi and Polish. A number of children arrive every year from abroad with little or no English. The school places great value on the background and heritage of all pupils. As a result, we are building a diverse and supportive learning community with pupils at the heart of everything we do. To further this work, the school has recently adopted the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to deliver the foundation subjects in a creative and exciting way. The international dimension provided through the curriculum is helping to prepare our pupils for life in the 21st Century.
There are currently 420 pupils on role in thirteen classes plus nursery. The school is at an exciting time in its development. At the last Ofsted inspection in May 2018, the school was again graded ‘Good’ in all areas. It was noted that “There is a sense of optimistic purpose about the school, which is evident in the calm excitement generated in lessons, pupils’ orderly conduct and the friendly, relaxed, yet focused, manner of staff and pupils.”
