Inspiring Social Work Excellence in Worcestershire

Do you want to make a real, positive difference to the children and young people of Worcestershire?

If yes, we want to hear from you.

The Role - Children Social Work Services Team Managers

My name is Tina Russell and I am the Assistant Director for Children's Social Work Services in Worcestershire.

My senior leadership and I are looking to recruit to the last remaining Team Manager vacancies in our service. If you are a dedicated and creative experienced social worker or existing team manager looking to make a difference, develop your career and improve the lives of children and young people, then Worcestershire Children Services should be your next destination.

We are looking for candidates who will keep relentless focus on positive outcomes for our children and young people. You will lead, manage and inspire a small team of up to 6 social workers and be supported by dedicated administrative support.  Supporting you in the management of NQSW's and staff performance and development are a team of advanced social work practioners.  We also have a strong permanent experienced senior management team to support you in your role as Team Manager.

We have a Team Manager position available in;

Family Front Door - Initial Contact and Referral Team

This team is the first point of contact when families or professionals have new concerns for children that are not already open to children’s services. The team consists of Team Managers, experienced Social Workers, Initial Screening Contact Officers and Business Administrative Support.

The team work collectively in order to ensure new referrals and concerns for children who are resident in the area are processed effectively in line with the local Levels of Need Threshold. The RAG rating system is used to inform timescales.  Request for information are also processed within this team. Alongside processing contact and referrals, the team contribute to a number of multi-agency forums including Domestic Abuse Triages and MASH discussions.  Social workers in the team offer support and guidance to professionals and members of the public in regards to concerns they may have for children in the local area.

The Service

Our service improvement plan gives a clear commitment to ensuring that we have the right capacity, capability and environment for our workforce and to achieving outcomes for children and young people we work with. This is an exciting time to join the team.

Our Ofsted monitoring visits have reported continued service improvement for over 12 months reporting, 'Overall increase in confidence of social workers resulting in creative, resourceful and reflective practice.' Our revised operating model sees smaller teams enabling increased managerial oversight and support to social workers.

The service has doubled its Supervised Contact Service within the last twelve months and created a dedicated team to undertake welfare return interviews. Both these activities have increased social workers' time to spend directly working with children and young people and this has been welcomed by staff.

Ofsted monitoring visits and Social Work Health Checks have reported a positive morale and confidence in management vision and leadership of the services.

It’s a great time to join our service and help us make a lasting difference to the lives of children and young people we work with.

Our offer to you:

We offer a basic salary of up to £47,870 per annum plus a one off 'Welcome Payment' of £3,000 and an annual 'Retention Payment' of up to £3,000 (Subject to terms and conditions).

We also have a great range of other benefits including flexible and mobile working, continual professional and career development through our Social Work Academy and a supportive environment where staff values each other.

What you now need to do:

We know you will understand what an important role this is. If you want to find out more or for an informal chat call the Social Work Recruitment Team on 01905 846666.
