Clerk to the Governing Board - Grade 5

48 hours per annum, worked during term time

Required as soon as possible: A clerk to serve our Governing Board

Salary:  Grade 5:  SCP9 to SCP 17 (from £20,344 per annum pro rata)

Required as soon as DBS and reference checks are complete.

This post is a part-time permanent post to clerk 3 or 4 meetings per term and amounts to an anticipated 48 hours per annum worked within school or at home (for completing minutes). This will be paid as a monthly amount.

The Governing Body is looking to appoint an excellent Clerk to Governors with immediate effect. The Clerk to Governors will be accountable to the Governing body, working effectively with the Chair of Governors, and with the Head Teacher. The Clerks main role is to provide professional clerking services to the governing body and its committees.

You will:

  • Be able to make accurate minutes from your own notes to then produce well presented minutes for distribution.
  • Collate and distribute agendas and associated paperwork in advance of meetings.
  • Be available to take minutes at all meetings throughout the year, 3 full Governor meetings and approximately 9 committee meetings a year.
  • Meetings will usually take place in the early evenings.
  • Provide procedural and legal advice and guidance.
  • Attend relevant training events.

Experience is essential. Candidates should be competent in the use of a word processor, email and internet and have access to a computer.  The successful applicant must be able to work effectively to capture the business in detailed Governing Board meetings.

You should have an interest in education, be tactful and able to deal with matters confidentially. You should be reliable and have a good sense of humour.
