32.5 Hours per Week

Are you a graduate considering a career in teaching? Or perhaps looking for a change in career path and the opportunity to work within education?

Do you want to gain an invaluable insight into the profession, whilst gaining a breadth of knowledge and experience?

The Avon Valley School is looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join a team of staff covering lessons for absent colleagues. You will be responsible for ensuring that students complete pre-set work and that good student behaviour is managed in line with school behaviour policy.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who may be interested in pursuing a career in teaching. We are a partnership school in the Schools Direct Programme and will offer support and guidance to any suitable post holders with their career development, and there may be an opportunity to join this programme in September 2020. In fact, many of our Cover Supervisors and teaching assistants have gone on to qualify as teachers through this route, having developed a range of teaching and behavioural management techniques and skills in the Cover Supervisor role.


Key Requirements

•Educated to at least GCSE/GCE O level /CSE grade 1, in literacy and numeracy
•Experience working with children of relevant age
•Previous experience (or formal training and experience)would be advantageous

We expect successful candidates to possess excellent communication skills at all levels, along with the ability to engage constructively with, and relate to, a wide range of young people from different backgrounds.
