This is a Fixed Term Position (funded initially for seven months with the potential to extend to twelve months).

This is also suitable as a secondment opportunity for current employees of Walsall Council (secondment – Internal applicants should note that before applying for a secondment opportunity they should seek the support of their line manager in the first instance).

We are looking to recruit a suitably experienced and motivated individual to continue the role of Programme Development & Commissioning Manager with a focus on addressing the wider determinants of health. You will work across the organisation (Planning, Licensing, Transport, Regeneration, and Money, Home and Jobs) to embed the health and wellbeing agenda in the Council.

The successful candidate will possess a degree in a relevant field and a further professional qualification in a health related field.  Applications from candidates with equivalent qualifications are welcomed. The successful candidates will also be able to demonstrate experience of managing successful projects, good negotiation and communication skills and have a knowledge of systems and processes around Planning, Licensing, Transport, Regeneration, and Money, Home and Jobs.

You will report directly to a Consultant within the Public Health service. You will provide the service with additional capacity to drive forward a range of strategic projects and programmes with a focus on delivering improvements to our services and realising real benefits for our customers. 

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.  The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
