Hours:

2 x full time – 37 hours per week

1 x part time – 18.5 hours per week, Wednesday to Friday

Are you a passionate, committed and driven social worker? Do you have high aspirations for looked after children and young people? We want to recruit individuals like you to join our team!

Social workers within the looked after children’s team hold a caseload of children and young people. They have responsibility for securing permanency for children with plans of adoption, long term fostering and special guardianship. They also undertake direct work with children and young people and support children in care council events.

We have an established, stable and supportive team with a strong focus upon being a good corporate parent. We work closely with our colleagues in the Virtual School, SEND CAMHS, Looked After Nursing Team, Commissioning team and carers to provide a high quality of care.

As a social worker in Solihull you will benefit from manageable caseloads, an inclusive and supportive team culture and great scope for professional development. In your first month, we will agree a personal development plan with you, which will include access to our high quality internal training programme and our Continuous Professional Development framework. Our practice framework is Signs of Safety and we will provide you with training and support regarding the framework, as required.

You will have:

  • A professional Social Work qualification and HCPC registration or pending registration, or you will be in the final academic year of your professional Social Work qualification.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant childcare legislation, including a clear understanding of ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’.
  • Experience of working with children, young people and families
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with children, young people and families.
