Commissioning Manager

Education & Early Help; Worcestershire Children First/Worcestershire County Council

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support service commissioning within Worcestershire Children First.  We are creating a Council owned company, Worcestershire Children First (WCF), which will deliver children's services to our communities.  The company, which will be ready for formal launch on 1st October 2019, will be led by our mission of “Supporting children and young people to be happy, healthy and safe”, and our core values:

  • placing children at our heart,
  • valuing family life,
  • ensuring a quality education for all, and
  • protecting children and young people from harm.

You will be responsible for collaborating with service leaders and other commissioners to transform and develop our provision to deliver excellence for children, young people & families.

You will also be responsible for delivering designated commissioning projects ensuring that Worcestershire Children First, the council and its partners achieve the right service from the right provider at the right price for the taxpayer and the citizens of Worcestershire.

Working across directorates you will contribute to the development of a dynamic market by highlighting gaps in current services and to work creatively, innovatively and commercially to understand, build and maintain market capacity shaping service delivery now and in the future.

Critical also is your ability to horizon scan and actively pursue integrated approaches to securing external funding.  Other key areas of responsibility are outlined in the attached job description.

So if you have substantial experience in delivering the commissioning cycle through evaluation, design, source and review stages whilst maintaining a determined, challenging and commercial focus, and within a children's services setting, then get in touch and apply to part of this new and exciting era for Worcestershire’s Children, young people and families.
