Please note: This role is a 2 Year FTC

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration.  Individual Councils and Local Enterprise Partnerships will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.

This is an exciting time for the West Midlands - the Commonwealth Games will be here in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350m housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.

Against a backdrop of a uniquely challenging and evolving environment, we are looking for the right people to ensure we can meet the demands of delivering an ambitious agenda that aims to build a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands.  This new role will truly have an impact on the whole of our region.

About the Role

The Creative Scale Up Programme is a 2 year pilot programme funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. The West Midlands Combined Authority has been allocated funding through this Programme to help ‘scaling up’ creative businesses in the region build capacity and become more attractive to investors. This will be achieved through a series of workshops, seminars and peer-to-peer mentoring interventions to help these businesses identify areas for growth and development leading to job creation in the sector, increases in turnover and profitability and entry into new markets in the UK and overseas. In addition to this, workshops and round table events will also take place with investors to help them understand the sector better and any re-examine any barriers that currently exist when it comes to investing.

The Creative Scale Up Programme is therefore looking for a Marketing and Events Executive to liaise with external and internal stakeholders to initiate, develop and deliver marketing strategies and campaigns to support this pilot.

Who we need

You will need to be a marketing and/or events professional who has ideally worked within a commercial service environment. You should have skills and experience in project and campaign management with the ability to easily grasp new communication tools. You should be able to work under pressure, coordinate multiple activities, as well as having strong analytical, numerical and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will have a professional and can-do attitude, along with an open-minded approach to creative problem solving.

You should hold a Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field or a marketing qualification preferably in a commercial environment, along with all Microsoft packages, and used to presenting information.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.
