The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic teaching assistant who is keen to support and enable students to achieve across the 11-16 range.

The successful candidate will join a well-resourced and experienced Mathematics department in a school that is committed to staff induction, support and investment.

The Mathematics department at Aylesford is a leading department within the school and we pride ourselves with consistently outstanding results. Students enjoy their Mathematics lessons and are taught by a welcoming, experienced and dedicated team of Mathematicians.

The role is part time; 31.25 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.15pm, term time only plus teacher training days (39 weeks). You may also be required to attend some parents’ evenings for the students that you teach.

The salary will be paid on Scale H, points 14-17 (£23,836.00 - £26,317.00 pro rata) starting at point 14 which equates to £17,238.80 per annum on the part time hours detailed.

Fixed Term Contract End Date: 12 months from start date initially


Key Requirements

As a teaching assistant specialising in mathematics, you will have the ability to work with students on a 1:1 basis and/or teach small groups of lower ability students.

You will be working with low ability students from Year 7 up to Year 11 so should be confident teaching up to foundation GCSE level. This role will require you to plan and deliver lessons, teaching with tangible objects, games and investigations in a small classroom with computer access.

You will have the opportunity to help the pupils tackle aspects of the curriculum and prepare for exams when required with a supportive and professional manner.

We are looking for teaching assistants who can pass on their subject knowledge, communicate clearly and enable easy learning so that students can access the curriculum. You should possess a supportive, nurturing outlook with the skills to inspire students through teaching.
