Job Details

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to take up the position of Curriculum Leader – Maths and Science (Functional Skills, GCSE Maths and GCSE Biology). Birmingham Adult Education Service is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Curriculum Leader with the ability and experience to lead the maths and science team through substantive changes in the Service and maintain high quality standards.

 

 

The successful candidate will have a lead role in ensuring that challenging quality and performance targets are met. They will lead, manage and supervise the duties of a team of Teaching and Learning Managers, Subject Leaders and Tutors. Other duties will include design, implementation and supervision of actions in the Quality Improvement Plan, compliance of all teaching staff, budget responsibility and accountability, and lead the curriculum plan for this provision. Travel between centres is required and travelling expenses can be claimed according to the BCC approved mileage scheme.

 

The successful applicant will hold a Level 5 teaching qualification, subject specialism at least at level 4, and an English and maths qualification of at least level 2. The successful applicant will have a high level understanding of the maths curriculum area and show evidence of managing successful programme delivery and development. They will have a track record of good or exceptional teaching/delivering training, have excellent interpersonal, organisational and management skills, a commitment to driving up quality and evidence of flexibility, as occasional evening and Saturday work is required. Close team work with Curriculum Leaders in other curriculum areas will be critical.
