Exciting opportunity for dynamic

Head Teacher to lead Barrow 1618 Church of England Primary Free School

Barrow 1618 CofE Primary Free School is a thriving community in action. As a small rural primary school it is particularly focused on the benefits of outdoor learning, and encourages freedom of spirit and independence of mind based on a set of common values. The school is full, with 90 pupils on roll and consists of four classes. In June 2016 the school was judged by OFSTED to be ‘Outstanding’ in all areas, which was followed by an ‘Outstanding’ Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) inspection in October 2016. We are committed to providing our pupils with invigorating and stimulating educational, social and moral experiences that they’ll remember for a lifetime.

We are looking for an inspirational and ambitious Headteacher who can demonstrate:

• outstanding leadership qualities and team spirit

• a proven professional educational track record in primary school teaching and learning

• natural communication skills

• a passion for achieving excellence and an absolute belief in the potential of all children which aligns to the Barrow values

• the creativity and innovation to further develop a rich, broad and inclusive curriculum

• a love of the countryside and our natural environment and an appreciation of how it can enhance the overall learning experience of the children

• the energy and entrepreneurship to broaden the impact of our school, and to explore more exciting opportunities to enable it to further develop, prepare for challenges and continue to push boundaries in education.

The post will require at least 1.5 days of teaching cover per week and would suit someone wishing to further their career whilst maintaining a connection to their core teaching passion.

In addition to a competitive salary we offer:

• enthusiastic, well-behaved children with an appetite for learning demonstrated by pupil attainment above that of the national average

• a CofE school recognised as providing outstanding faith education

• a bonus scheme for all teaching staff

• highly supportive Governors, parents, staff and children

• the opportunity to make a difference to the delivery of primary education and to the lives of young people

• the chance to be innovative and to lead the development of a unique and successful free school

• a beautiful peaceful and extensive rural working environment

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Visits to the school will be welcomed on the afternoon of Thursday 17th October and the morning of Friday 18th October. Please arrange with our school administrative team by emailing barrow.office@taw.org.uk
