This opportunity is offered as a fixed term contract for external applicants or as a secondment for internal applicants until 31st March 2020 (with the possibility of an extension).

At Walsall Council we are “Proud of our past, our present and for our future”.
Walsall Council Adult Social Care commissioning is a progressive service and following significant investment we have an exciting opportunity to join us. We encourage our commissioning officers to lead, support and challenge our internal workforce and external market to ensure good quality, outcome based services that meet the needs of Walsall residents. We have big plans and major projects underway including development of an Integrated Quality in Care Team.
The Quality in Care Team’s priority is to improve the quality of commissioned services for all who use those services and to prevent avoidable harm. This includes ensuring that as far as reasonably possible the services commissioned by Walsall Council are safe, effective and provide a positive experience for service users. The service user’s experience of care is sought, heard and used to improve our services.
Our approach is to work in partnership with service users, their families and carers and service providers to ensure that evidence-based, safe, high quality services are delivered.
We are looking for commissioning officers who are aspirational for Walsall residents. In this new world we expect our commissioners to be transformational, innovative leaders, who apply learnt experience of organisational change, systems thinking and appreciative enquiry for quality improvement, and quality assurance of commissioned services.
We welcome applications from candidates that can demonstrate this experience or uniqueness which will complement our existing workforce and meet the duties required within the job description.
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.
If you would like an informal discussion about any of these roles, please contact 01922 652141 and ask to speak to Grace Charles or Claire Hammonds.
Closing date: Monday 30th September 2019
Interview Date: Monday 7th October 2019
For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
