Job Details

The Employment and Skills Service is looking to recruit to several posts for a new programme named the “Ignite Project”. The Council was successful in a bid through the “Controlling Migration Fund” which is a fund administered by the “Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government”. The primary aim of the 1-year project is to allow the local authority to respond to the impact of recent migration on their communities.

The “Ignite Project” will support refugees and migrants in to employment or a positive destination. A key aspect of the role will be to link with a range of specialist migration/refugee programmes; and partners, including the City Council’s Migration Team, Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre and Ashley Community Housing.

We are looking for individuals who are motivated and passionate about supporting refugees and migrants.

You will need to act as a mentor to customers to identify needs, tackle barriers and support individuals to a positive future of employment, training or education. Excellent communication skills partnered with critical thinking and a passion to help migrants and refugees are prerequisites for this job.

The following are the key areas we are looking at:  

  • Assist customers to discover and overcome personal barriers and set achievable goals
  • Monitor and evaluate progress
  • Complete and document relevant paperwork and prepare appropriate reports
  • Develop effective job coaching and employment action plan
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to inspire and motivate

Positions are for a fixed term contract for a one-year period to start as soon as possible.
