About us;

Newcastle Borough Council have an exciting opportunity for a professional and proactive individual to lead Democratic Services, delivering a high standard of advice, guidance and support to members’ and support to the Council’s decision-making structures.

The role;

Supporting the Council’s governance arrangements, you will service meetings as required, including those of a confidential nature, arranging meeting dates and venues, preparing reports, agendas and minutes.  You will have responsibility for a small team where you will ensure their performance is evaluated and monitored and that they receive appropriate support, training and development opportunities.

The role will also involve maximising the use of the Councils electronic committee management system to support the development and modernisation of the service.

Please note that this post is politically restricted and that you will be expected to attend meetings outside normal working hours, including evenings on a weekly basis.

About you;

You will have experience of working within a fast-moving, political environment and will possess relevant professional and management qualifications.  You will be an effective communicator who can demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational skills.
