This is an opportunity to join an experienced and supportive Central Throughcare Team based in Stafford.

This position is for a qualified social worker within the Throughcare service.  The successful candidate will be appointed to the Central Throughcare Team, a team which specialises in working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

We are seeking an individual who is a qualified social worker.  You will report directly to the Team Manager and will hold responsibility for Looked After Children up to the age of 18.  You will be responsible for the care planning arrangements and supporting and monitoring children’s progress in all areas of their lives.  For older teenagers you will work closely with the allocated personal advisor and will be responsible for ensuring they are prepared for, and experience, a smooth transition into independence.

It is essential that you have experience of working with children and young people and desirable for this to be older teenagers or care leavers.  Experience of working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children is also desirable in this role.

This post forms part of the Throughcare Service in Staffordshire, if you are a qualified social worker, and have the skills, knowledge and experience to work on a busy social work team and a commitment to supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential, then this is an opportunity for you to join a Service with a clear focus on achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.  

Throughcare Teams provide the following services:

  • Social Workers work with Looked After Children under the age of 18
  • Personal Advisors work alongside Social Workers with older Looked After Children aged 16-18 years and then hold case responsibility for Care Leavers over the age of 18
  • Direct work with children and young people, their families and carers
  • All aspects of Care Planning for Looked After Children, and Pathway Planning for young people who are preparing to leave care
