Homelessness Prevention Coordinator (Complex Needs)

Employer
Stratford-on-Avon District Council
Location
Stratford-upon-Avon
Salary
£28,785.00 - £31,371.00
Closing date
28 Oct 2019

An opportunity has arisen in the District Council’s housing advice team for the role of a Homelessness Prevention Coordinator (Complex needs).  The posts primary function is to work with a small cohort of households who require intensive multi agency case management to prevent homelessness by retaining current accommodation or, where this is not possible, provide access to a range of suitable alternative housing options fulfilling the Council’s statutory obligation under the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
You will be working with households that are experiencing complex and chaotic lifestyles, have difficulty engaging with services and have multiple needs around housing (including rough sleeping and repeat homelessness) in addition to other issues. These include crime and disorder, drug and alcohol issues, mental health, physical health, learning difficulties, domestic abuse, childhood trauma and abuse and gang exploitation.
You will adopt a multi-agency approach and work holistically with customers on both their short term housing needs as well as their longer term aspirations.  You will manage a caseload, drawing in support and assistance from other statutory and voluntary organisations as appropriate to help customers achieve their housing goals and increase their life opportunities moving forward.
Strong negotiation, mediation and problem solving skills will be required and it would be advantageous to have worked in roles where resolving challenges and barriers, possibly in housing, social care and health, police or support service roles, can be demonstrated.
A comprehensive training programme will be made available so why not apply to join a team, in which every day, you will work with local residents to help them change their lives.
