At Cheadle Primary School, we are looking for a colleague who can make a key contribution to our classroom support staff team.  This post is advertised as a Grade 5 permanent role for 28 hours per week on a whole year basis with a start date as soon as possible after the October half-term.

Your main role will be to cover whole class lessons during the short term absence of teaching colleagues.  The classes you supervise may change on a daily basis and you will be responsible for ensuring that pupils complete pre-set work and for providing excellent opportunities for pupils to learn in the absence of their teacher.  You may also be required to work with individual pupils or small groups and you will be expected to work across the whole primary age range.

Cover is determined on a daily basis and when not assisting in the classroom, you may be requested to support with classroom admin tasks, preparation of resources/materials and contribute to extra-curricular activities.

You will support the absent teacher by providing feedback from lessons, collecting and handing over completed work, marking and providing any other information required by the school or class teacher. 

You will be required to promote good pupil behaviour and deal with any incidents/issues in line with school policies and procedures.  You will be confident in supporting pupils whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.  We would expect the successful candidate to establish productive working relationships with pupils, act as a role model and set high expectations for both yourself and pupils.

You will have a good standard of education, be flexible and be able to use your own initiative.  Relevant experience would be an advantage.

You will have highly effective communication skills and a commitment to a collaborative, team approach and be passionate about supporting the ethos and vision of the school.
