About Us:

The Country Parks Service has a portfolio of 5 Country Parks and 3 Greenways across Warwickshire serving in excess of 900,000 visitors a year.

Ryton Pools Country Park is a 100 acre country park and is great to explore.  It attracts around 200,000 visitors per year and is the second busiest park in our portfolio. There are many different habitats that are home to a wide range of birds and other wildlife. We work closely with partners to deliver habitat management objectives and have numerous areas of the parks under various agri-environmental schemes. The excellent surfaced paths enable easy walking around the site, and provide access to the adjoining ancient woodland of Ryton Wood, two popular Play Areas and a themed Pirate Trail.

Burton Dassett Hills Country Park has a series of rugged hilltops affording spectacular views in all directions and Fox Covert, small woodland with a surfaced footpath. Opened as a country park in 1971,the 100 acres contain a wealth of historical interest such as the prominent beacon, quarry remains and the nearby 12th Century All Saints Church.

The Role:

As our Countryside Ranger working weekends and Bank Holidays in all weathers, you'll be using the works vehicles travelling across the Park helping to promote and assist visitors' enjoyment of the countryside. Working within a team you'll take responsibility for opening and closing the park; lead as well as contribute to events; advise, deliver and provide information on activities; ensure the Park is clean and tidy, carrying out routine maintenance as required; take payments for goods and parking and complete banking returns.  In addition you may be required to work at other parks across the county and work additional hours.

Key requirements:

To be successful in this role you'll need to be qualified or studying towards a qualification in countryside or recreation management; have knowledge of conservation, recreation and countryside issues and have developed practical countryside skills.  As you'll be managing a variety of relationships it's important you have strong communication skills and experience of leading on,and providing events for children.  It's essential that you want to workweek-ends and Bank Holidays and equally important you have the ability to work within a team as well as on your own initiative.  Strong problem solving and ability to work under pressure are also required.
