This is an exciting opportunity to join Children’s Services, Home to School Transport Team to provide information, advice and guidance to parents/carers to ensure their child receives the best transport plan. 

The role will be to help assess travel support needs while adhering to the transport policy for eligible children and young people living in Walsall who attend school or college. Travel support may be in the form of;

  • Taxi, minibus or coach travel
  • Personal budget to enable an eligible family to get their child to school,
  • Mileage allowance,
  • Independent Travel Training,
  • Bus pass
  • or any other means available that enable the Local Authority to meet this statutory duty in a cost effective and safe manner

In particular, they must also have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to effectively build the respect, trust and confidence of employees, senior staff, contractors, parent/carers, service users and schools. 

The post holder will assist the transport team and provide effective support in the coordination of the day-to-day needs for the (SEN) external Home to School and Social Care transport provision and ensure the highest possible standard of service provision. 

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.
