This is an exciting opportunity for an urban designer to join our multi-disciplinary Design and Delivery Team in the Regeneration and Enterprise Division at Dudley Council.

Although part of the West Midlands urban conurbation Dudley is located close to the countryside and it also has many high quality green spaces and excellent visitor attractions. The borough has a history that it is proud of, but it is also a place that is moving forward with it recently launched ‘Forging a Future for All’ which sets out ambitious plans for the regeneration of the borough making it a great place for people to live, work and visit.

Hours 37 per week. However, there is flexibility within the contracted hours for this post, and these hours are therefore negotiable from between 37 and 22.5 hr per week.

Salary: Grade 9

This post offers flexible and agile working as well as free car parking.

You will plays a key role in the delivery of the council’s ambitious and exiting programme of regeneration projects which will bring about significant and positive change across the borough over the coming years.

You will therefore find yourself participating in a challenging and rewarding range of work by delivering high quality place making through the council’s major regeneration and housing programme, including the DY5 Enterprise Zone and the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro Extension.

You will also influence the quality of development through the planning process, including the planning policies that make successful development possible.

The urban design team is well-respected through its reputation for delivering a consistently high quality service and there will therefore be opportunities for personal development within this post.

You will have:

  • Previous experience of working in an urban design service.
  • Well-developed urban design skills and ability to take the lead in promoting high quality urban design evidenced through a broad portfolio of work demonstrating masterplanning, frameworks, development briefs, themed guidance and development control advice and evidence of successfully negotiated development outcomes.
