Worcester

Worcester is a great place to work. We have a thriving city centre, a great wealth of history and a fantastic environment, making it somewhere to be proud of.

Everyone associated with Worcester City Council is proud of Worcester’s offer of a high quality of life, varied heritage, award winning parks and our contribution to the development of modern local government.

It is a fantastic place to work and you will find us to be an organisation that is challenging yet caring; with our leadership adventurous in its pursuit of excellence.

At Worcester City Council, we have a work-family culture and we are proud to support and value the combination of employees’ work and family lives.

We have a clear vision to achieve excellence in everything we do and to achieve excellence in everyone we employee, meaning we are looking for an excellent candidate to come and join our work family!

The role

Museums Worcestershire is looking to recruit Casual Learning Assistants to deliver workshops to schools and community groups at The Commandery and the local area. The Commandery is a historic building and visitor attraction in the heart of Worcester.

This role is vital to the learning team, delivering workshops linking with the historic themes of our building in engaging ways. Successful candidates will know how to take a story from our building and make this engaging and fun for all different ages.

Key requirements

We are looking for people who are passionate about engaging visitors of all ages with The Commandery. We expect successful applicants to have excellent communication skills and have the skills to engage children, SEND groups and community groups using historic objects. If this is you then we would love to hear from you.

Skills and experience

A background in the Museum industry is not an essential requirement – what we are hoping to find are enthusiastic and engaging individuals who are passionate about learning in a museum or heritage environment. We expect applicants to have experience working and delivering workshops with schools and community groups.

Additional information

This role is a casual role and will be needed as and when required for school and community group bookings, with occasional weekend, evening and Bank Holiday working required.

For more information about the role, please contact Gemma Dhami - Museums Learning Manager on gemma.dhami@worcester.gov.uk or Rachel Robinson - Commandery Development Manager on rrobinson3@worcestershire.gov.uk

Closing date:  3 November 2019

Interview date: 12 November 2019
