The Role
We are able to offer a Teacher of Maths role either part time or full time; a part time role would be available from January 2020 which will be 3.5 or 4 days per week depending on the candidate. We are also welcoming applications from NQTs looking for full time positions from July/September 2020.
Both roles would be permanent and paid on the TMS/UPS.
We welcome candidates to visit the school beforehand to meet the Mathematics department and allow us to answer any questions you may have.
The Mathematics department consists of a pleasant suite of 9 classrooms and a computer room housed together. Each classroom is equipped a projector and computer giving access to a rich variety of resources from the school network and the internet.
At Key Stage 3, students are set in to 2 parallel bands of 4/5 sets each side, grouped by ability. Students follow a mastery approach to learning maths, which promotes problem solving, investigations and developing strong numeracy skills. Learning is supported by a variety of resources including textbooks, a large library of specially designed student activities and computer based packages such as Maths Watch.
At Key Stage 4 students are set by ability across the year, allowing easy movement between groups. Students follow the new Edexcel GCSE course from year 10.
Key Stage 5, A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics are very popular options. All students doing A-level mathematics follow the Edexcel exam board.
