This is a full-time fixed term contract until March 2020, with a possible extension.

Birmingham City Council is looking for a Counter Extremism Community Engagement Officer to help Birmingham City Council and its neighbouring areas to further develop and embed our Counter Extremism Strategy. We are looking for a motivated individual to successfully plan and deliver specific elements of the Counter Extremism Strategy.

We are looking for a Community Engagement Officer:

• Who has a good understanding of the Counter Extremism Strategy;

• Who has excellent engagement and outreach skills with the ability to work with a range of age groups and people from diverse backgrounds and abilities;

• Who has demonstrable experience of planning and delivering a range of community events;

• Who has excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders;

• Who has the ability to prioritise workload and organise work effectively to meet deadlines;

• Who is enthusiastic, tenacious and has a positive ‘can do’ attitude and a creative mind set;

• Who has a passion for making a difference for the community;

• Who can demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, have a highly collaborative and flexible approach and be able to respond to changing community priorities.

The appropriate candidate needs to be qualified to degree level and have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in community engagement.

Some evening and weekend working will be required.

A valid driving licence and access to a car is essential.

An enhanced DBS Check is required for this role.
