FULL TIME SCIENCE TECHNICIAN
- GRADE 3 / 4 (Scale Points 4-11)
- 37 HOURS PER WEEK, ALL YEAR
- SALARY: £18,426 - £21,166 DEPENDENT ON QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A confident and reliable person is required to support members of the Science Faculty.
Applicants would benefit from relevant previous experience and familiarity with the handling of chemicals and scientific equipment but this is not essential as relevant training would be given to suitable candidates, however a good understanding of laboratory safety would
be essential and a science background or qualifications would be desirable.
The main duties of this role will include:
- the preparation of apparatus for lessons including assembling apparatus
- Keeping up to date with the latest health and safety guidance, legal requirements and good practice
- Advising teachers on health and safety practical technique, suitability of experiments and chemicals keeping inventories and stock lists
- keeping equipment and materials safe and in good order including mandatory checks
- keeping hazardous material secure and checking stock
- Assisting with first aid across the faculty
A proven track record of good communication and organisational skills is essential.
Experience of working in a school- based environment is desirable. The ability to work professionally under pressure to meet deadlines and operate flexibly within the changing needs of the Academy is essential.
