Job Details

Sycamore Short Stay School is a pupil referral unit which provides a nurturing educational environment for KS1, 2 and 3 children who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools. Many of our pupils have complex emotional, social and behavioural needs. Pupils stay at Sycamore for varying lengths of time, before moving on to their next permanent school. The cohort is transient, with an average of 18 pupils starting at the school each term and a similar number of pupils leaving each term.

Sycamore's purpose is to re-engage disaffected pupils, and give them the skills and aspirations to access and maintain a permanent place in mainstream school or other appropriate educational placement. The work of the Short Stay School is based around core values of communication, consistency, and nurturing. Our mission is to build trusting relationships and unlock potential. Our aim is to enable our pupils to succeed in education, realise their own potential and play an active part in society.
