FutureFocus Careers Team
FutureFocus Careers Adviser
£24,313 - £26,317 per annum (pro rata)
Scale 6
26.5 hours per week (Fixed Term to March 2020)
Telford and Wrekin Council are seeking to appoint a committed careers professional to join our FutureFocus Careers Team on a fixed term basis until March 2020. We are looking for a flexible, passionate individual that will work with young people to help them to make positive post 16 choices and successful progressions into further education, training and employment opportunities.
Telford & Wrekin Council has maintained its pre and post 16 careers offer, now called FutureFocus, to young people delivering a traded service to local schools and maintaining a case work approach to young people not in education employment or training.
You will need to be mobile to meet young people and their families at places to suit them, and will initially be operating from our FutureFocus drop in centre in Southwater One. You will be required to bring experience, credibility and be able to build effective relationships with the individuals on your caseload, and able to use a range of strategies to help our young people make appropriate careers choices, motivate them to take action and support their transitions between school and post 16 options, and from post 16 onwards.
For further information on the role please click on the links below to view the job description and person specification.
The post will work with a range of our local schools and post 16 providers to ensure young people are helped to move forward in their transitions to further learning, training, employment or move into other appropriate services.
If you would relish the opportunity to join our team tackling youth unemployment, and support Telford’s young people in their futures, then we’d love to hear from you.
Call Tara Foran or Tim Smart for an informal chat about the role on 01952 388988
Please note that this role delivers both statutory and traded services within schools/colleges. Due to National Professional Standards, it is a requirement of all Careers Advisers to hold a minimum of a Level 4 qualification in Careers Guidance/Information, Advice and Guidance and to be able to work towards gaining the Level 6. Applicants without this qualification will not be shortlisted for interview.
The role involves working across Telford & Wrekin, therefore the successful applicant will be required to hold a full driving licence, and have a car available and insured for Business Use.
We are committed to equality and diversity. Posts working with children or vulnerable groups will be subject to an appropriate criminal records check.
Sorry but CVs will not be accepted.
