Inclusion Manager: Inclusion & Attendance Team

 

Full time – 37.5 hours

Permanent Post

Salary: NJC Grade 8

 

The Inclusion Support Service is seeking an Inclusion Manager to take an operational lead in reducing school exclusion and promoting inclusive practice within educational settings in Wolverhampton.

 

The post will be part of the Inclusion & Attendance Team, which is located within the Inclusion Support Service.

 

The postholder will work closely with schools and other key partners, providing high levels of challenge and support to reduce pupil exclusions. They will help to achieve improved educational outcomes for vulnerable children through the promotion of inclusive and restorative practice. They will rigorously monitor the progress of pupils on modified timetables, ensuring that children at risk of exclusion receive the right support and that pupil transition is carefully managed, at the appropriate point.

 

The postholder will manage a team of Inclusion Officers, delivering a combination of direct and advisory support to schools to improve behaviour and engagement. They will also work closely with the Attendance Manager and Attendance Officers, ensuring a joined-up approach within the Inclusion & Attendance Team.

 

Excellent communication and persuasion skills, together with ambition, drive and creativity are required for this post. You will need a strong knowledge of the statutory education sector and an understanding of the factors affecting the achievement of disadvantaged young people. Significant experience of teaching in a school or other educational setting, preferable in a senior leadership role and ideally specialising in inclusion, is also required.
