West Midlands Commissioning Hub Manager

Unique career opportunities have been created within the West Midlands.

We are seeking the right individuals to provide the energy and momentum to drive our newly created regional commissioning hub forwards and deliver an exciting range of projects to improve outcomes for children and families.  You will have the opportunity to shape regional commissioning strategy and implementation in a career-defining role, working with a broad range of stakeholders including Directors of Children’s Services.

The post of Commissioning Hub Manager will initially be for two years and will play a pivotal role in delivering the region’s strategic objectives of ensuring there is enough, good quality provision to meet children’s needs, developing innovative and outcome-based models, and achieving excellence and value for money for children and young people.  A focused work programme will provide direction for the team’s work over this period.

The commissioning hub will be responsible for managing and supporting regional and sub-regional commissioning projects, strengthening the approach to market management and developing regional quality assurance initiatives.

We are looking for ambitious, highly motivated, energetic individuals who are able to take the lead on exciting regional projects. Candidates must be comfortable with working at pace, with strict deadlines, both independently and as part of cross-authority teams, to drive forward the change required to improve outcomes for our children and young people.

About you

We would welcome your application if you:

  • Have substantial commissioning experience either in a local authority or health setting
  • Can manage complex projects and deliver at pace
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate
  • Can demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries and with external partners.
  • Have a passion for improving outcomes and services for children, young people and their families
  • Have a keen understanding of value for money.

About the team

This is a new team, funded by West Midlands local authorities and Children’s Trusts.  You will be joined by a Commissioning Officer and a Contracts Officer.  The team will be based in Coventry in the prestigious new Friargate offices, but as these are regional roles, there is scope to be flexible around working arrangements.

Secondments from Councils Trusts and related public sector organisations will be considered if support from the candidates home authority is secured.

Benefits

In return, we can offer you an excellent pension scheme, 'MyCar' scheme, flexible working, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at a number of city centre restaurants, shops and other establishments.

Coventry City Council is committed to delivering the best possible services and improving the quality of life for Coventry people.
