This role is fixed term until the 31 August 2021.

We are seeking to appoint to dynamic and inspirational Centre Manager to join Sandwell’s Transition, Education and Partnership Service (STEPS) for International New Arrivals to Sandwell.

As a strategic leader you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the centre and work in partnership with the Executive Head Teacher to deliver on STEPS key aims:-

  • Successful admission of New Arrivals into the Centre,
  • Support for new arrival families,
  • Timely and appropriate placements of children into school and
  • Supporting the transition of children to schools including a competencies assessment.

Sandwell has approximately 800 international children joining us every year; you would be instrumental in delivering a high quality experience for then at the centre whilst they wait for

their school place. Your experience in community engagement and school leadership will be a real asset to STEPS; as you act as an influential advocate to strengthen our profile with local schools, stakeholders and the communities we are so proud to serve.

The ideal candidate must be a confident leader whose skills and experiences include:

  • Outstanding classroom practice with curriculum design experience.
  • A commitment to inclusion and expertise/knowledge of EAL.
  • ICT and data management.
  • An understanding of facilities management including Health and Safety.
  • Experience of work in a school environment or equivalent.
  • A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to shape the Centre as it develops.
  • Ability to make judgement about quality first teaching.
  • Be highly organised and have the ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines.
