A Positive Action training initiative for disabled people

The Recruit-Ability programme provides 12 months part-time paid work experience and training for people who have a disability.  Additionally, participants can expect to receive full support and advice and access to training courses.

Please note: 

  • This opportunity is open to disabled applicants only
  • You must be new to Walsall Council (no previous/current employed status with this council)
  • You must be new to this type of positive action programme

Walsall Healthy Homes Assistant (2 posts) – Ref: RT71519
Based at the Civic Centre, Walsall
18.5 hours per week – fixed term for 12 months – working pattern to be agreed

Training allowance of £17,192 pro rata to hours worked. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, award-winning team helping people in Walsall live in safer and warmer homes.  You will learn how to help others improve their lives through energy efficiency, how to get cheaper fuel bills, preventing carbon monoxide poisoning, damp and mould in homes and slips, trips and falls in the home, and how to inspect a house or flat to find out what is dangerous or wrong with it.

The role will involve visiting homes throughout the Walsall borough with other team members to find out what help can be given as well as office based work dealing with enquiries.

You should be willing to learn, have a basic knowledge of IT and a good understanding of the importance of confidentiality in relation to the information about residents.
